I am Forex Piper. Don't been mistaken. I don't just trade forex. I just got a thing for this name. I have a full-time job and trades part-time.
I ventured into the trading realm since early 2006. The journey has been rough. Well, not too rough actually, because I chose to pay for education first and not pay Mr Market for the lessons.
Lure of the Money
Back in late 2005 early 2006, there was this avalanche of trading courses that sprung up in Singapore, where I reside. In particular, options trading courses. All the promises of get-rich-quick, beachfront lifestyles, never-to-work-another-day, getting money to work harder for me etc. In the beginning, I just wanted to find means of growing my money. Later, I succumbed to all the sweet talks of financial freedom through trading...
The Holy Grail Strategy
12 steps stock selection method, most powerful strategy etc. The initial search was for the holy grail strategy. I was like a headless fly attending courses after courses, devouring books after books. Utlimately to realise that there is no such thing as the holy grail in trading.
Automated Trading
In 2008 or thereabouts, everyone was talking forex. With my background in IT, I dabbled with developing expert advisors (EAs) on the MetaTrader 4 for a while. I also got the opportunity to write an EA for a successful trader/coach and picked up some pointers from him along the way. I was fortunate to have met a EA expert who showed me the ropes to EA development. He also shared with me his extensive research on trading strategies and what money management can do. Along the way, I was almost drawn into putting my money with 3 commercial EA (which fortunately I didn't). I think my experience with automated trading is best summed up with a friend who evaluated many EAs eventually gave everything up altogether saying that there is no one consistently profitable EA in the world.
